It's a 1st person puzzle game in a similar feel to NaissanceE, A Story about my Uncle, Refunct, Disoriented and even Antichamber. You run around huge levels and jump on platforms. There are special abilities gradually added as you progress, some of which are unique and interesting, e.g. a switch for the direction of gravity or a flashlight which reveals hidden platforms nearby.
Good:
- interesting abilities. Btw the gravity switch should have been in an earlier stage, e.g. A2 or even A1. The ability to change gravity had a 'wow' effect on me which would be great to have right at the start of the game and not 3 zones in.
- very nice music, worth downloading and listening even outside the game
- a unique visual style. It seems like it's mostly just similarly textured cubes, glowing spheres and semi-transparent low-poly terrain but overall it all looks just great. The play of light creates nice minimalistic/sci-fi landscapes with very little means
So-so:
- huge levels which are a double-edged sword: on one hand, it's breathtaking when you make long multi-jumps through the air to land in distant places (reminded me of A Story about my Uncle) and these big places really dominate you and feel surreal; but on the other hand, running just takes too much time. Usually I felt that sprint wasn't fast enough, and I wished for a double or even 5x times run speed to quicker get thru dull featureless areas
- it's a real-time game, so many puzzles require precise timing and precise jumping. Which some people may like (e.g. fans of Meatboy or console games of the 90s). But if you like thinking more than straining your dexterity (and stress resistance), the harder levels will wear your patience down
Bad:
- (nitpicking) the GUI looks unfinished, like a stub. Especially in comparison with the highly artistic in-game visuals
Overall, it's a good game. I'm surprised it doesn't have more downloads, or that I'm the first person to write a review of it here.
