It is not the biggest, not the prettiest, but it's simply the best and is not ashamed to admit it. If you hate racing games departure from reality, after playing Dirty Rally you will enjoy to drive the real car. Everything is somehow easier than in game... [Issue#260]
Merciless, more simulative than any other rally game released in the last year and pretty darn satisfying. Thanks, Codemasters.
Everything is made just like fans of first few Colin McRae Rallies wanted. Now it’s up to them to reciprocate with high enough sales numbers – and classic rally sims will have a bright future again. [Issue#205, p.42]
A superb rally simulation, Dirt Rally is the best Rally game from Colin McRae Rally, great graphics, great controls and variety of multiplayer modes.
A fantastic new addition to the Dirt franchise. Less approachable for new players but clearly the best outing from Codemasters in years.
Dirt Rally is Codemasters' well-deserved return to success.
Dirt Rally is hard, demanding and challenging, but never unfair. And when you master it, it’s the best of Swiss watches.
Dirt Rally is the best rally simulation at the moment and one of the best racing games of all time. Beginners will find it to be quite difficult.
DiRT Rally has made me forgive all the bigger and smaller missteps Codemasters may have committed. It's a great, very demanding game that could benefit from more maps and attention to detail, but even considering those minor flaws it's simply the best rally game out there. Richard Burns Rally finally has a worthy successor.
Built and shaped on user feedback, DiRT Rally is one of the best racing games dedicated to this fascinating motorsport.
It’s a thrilling race game – the first one to actually make my hands sweat - but it isn’t the most beautiful one out there. You’ll need your best racing skills to complete it, but if you’re not scared by a challenge, DiRT: Rally is the perfect game for you. [feb. 2016 / page 068]
With Dirt Rally Codemasters shows why it focuses on racing games. The rally feeling from Colin McRae Rally is back, and might be even better. If this is the way Dirt Rally is headed, this game has a bright future ahead.
Dirt Rally is a brilliant looking and incredible sounding racing sim that feels absolutely outstanding, but it won’t tolerate the timid.
An intense, thrilling rally sim with punishingly realistic physics and deep, nuanced handling. [Feb 2016, p.78]
It's pure driving, with all its pro and cons. There's a clear lack of contents (but updating is constant), but when it's just you, the driving wheel and the never-ending battle with the track, you will feel the rally experience like in those sweet days of the Colin McRae saga.
Codemasters is back with the game we've been waiting for years. DiRT Rally is a very, very challenging simulator that forces you to improve with every race, but above all, it's fun and brings back some of the feelings Colin McRae games gave us.
For years, offroad fans are screaming for a return from Codemasters to classic rally – as well as for a modern successor to Richard Burns Rally. And this delivers on both ends. The career could be more polished and less grind, though.
Dirt Rally delivers the most solid experience audio-visually and driving wise to the rally genre. Still, road surfaces and physics could be refined further, and we really need more rallies. [March 2016]
For those who love the genre, Codemasters has created a great way to interact with the world of rally racing, and this is a game that will allow them to spend tens of hours tweaking setups, choosing their favorite car and competing with friends in the multiplayer events.
Dirty Rally can be unforgiving, unrelenting, and seemingly as high in its demands as the infamous hill climb at Pikes Peak. But the journey is sublime.
We waited and waited, and finally a great rally game arrived. DiRT Rally is a great racing experience, with an exhilarating gameplay, good contents and great graphics. Definitely what fans of this spectacular races wanted.
The game does require you to work to earn your keep and master your racing skills, but it does so with fluid controls and an outstanding presentation that keeps you on your toes at every turn. Eventually, it does offer an enriched experience that surpasses most of its other racers – including the classic Dirt games we love so much. This series has truly grown up, but in a very good way.
Codemasters listened very carefully to the community, developing a great racing game. DiRT Rally does not disappoint and keeps you in front of the screen for hours on end. All we can hope for is new content - more cars and tracks.
This is as authentic a portrayal of rally as you’re likely to find, and proves to be not just a return to form for Codemasters, but its best game to date. Just don’t expect it to treat you with any courtesy.
A very impressive title from Codemasters. It’s great for hardcore rally enthusiasts but also offers a nice entry point for new gamers into this genre.
DiRT Rally makes us forget the troubles that plague the genre of rally simulators. Codemasters mixed the best essence of fun and high realism. Now it only remains to add more content and fix some technical issues.
Not since 2004’s Richard Burns Rally has there been a rally game that has approached the sport with the goal of definitively portraying it as it exists in reality: cars that require significant practise to master, terrain as difficult to memorise as it is to slide across, weather that makes ‘white out’ literal and opponents that punish even the slightest hesitation.
Dirt Rally goes back to Colin McRae Rally, relinquishing all that modern Ghymkana nonsense and returning to the simple elegance of old rally titles. It’s also a game that makes you earn your triumphs and therefore makes them much more precious. [02/2016, p.52]
Quotation forthcoming.
Even completing a stage in the relatively tame classic Mini Cooper S will leave you feeling bothered and fatigued. [Feb 2016, p.114]
It's not a sim, but it's the best rally game in years.
One of the most exciting driving sims of the new generation, and hopefully a game that will only get better over the coming months.
If you go into it looking for a game that doesn't give you an easy go of it and expects you to concentrate and really invest in the challenge, then you will find a satisfying and genuinely exciting game here. If you go in expecting tons of flash and colourful presentation then you may be sorely disappointed.
