Immortal Planet

On the icy surface of a forgotten planet stand ruined tombs where immortals sleep. While sleepless warriors roam the halls with their minds eroded by eternity, a lone Awakewalker emerges from cryosleep. With no memory of their past, it’s up to them to forge their future, discover the planet’s mysteries, and find a way out of this icy hell.

Fight against challenging enemies with complex behaviours while exploring levels built around single checkpoints. Gather Experiences from fallen enemies to upgrade your character. Fight and die repeatedly, but never lose progress by recovering Experiences lost upon death. Explore the world to discover the story and find many items, spells and weapons that will give you an edge against demanding boss enemies.

Souls-like Progression:

Recover Experiences lost upon death and use them to upgrade your character. Customize your playstyle with dozens of items and spells. Methodical Combat: Patience and focus are much more important than reflexes. Block, dodge and tackle enemies while managing your stamina. You can see enemy stamina and exploit it to stun them when they are exhausted.

Tight Level Design:

Levels are designed around single checkpoints from which you explore the area around it. Levels feature many unlockable shortcuts so you are always progressing no matter what. Intense Bossfights: Every level features a powerful boss enemy. Fights with these enemies are multi-stage struggles that are a real test of skill and determination.

  • Immortal Planet is a really good souls-like action RPG. Its isometric approach and its minimal (but awesome) graphic style allow the game to run even on older PCs. It's a pity that the adventure ends after eight hours only, but the necessity for a second run in the new Nightmare difficulty level to unlock all the stuffs is enough to justify the purchase.

  • There are a few moments of frustration, but there are also times where it – dare I say it – surpasses Dark Souls in my mind. At the very least, it’s a colourful, compelling, sci-fi Souls-like, and a great way to pass the time while waiting for FromSoftware’s next announcement.

  • Immortal Planet take many ideas from the Souls series and it turns out to be a good very difficult isometric action game.

  • Immortal Planet is a fine game but the biggest complaint I have are the controls, which make it more frustrating than it actually is. It has strategic combat and slow progression with rage quitting moments as well as drawing inspiration from the Souls genre. If you're fine with the limited control customisation then do check out this game for a never ending hack and slash adventure.

  • Immortal Planet isn’t the best that the Souls genre has to offer, but it certainly makes a strong effort to stand out, and as I mentioned before, it can serve as an excellent starter game if you’re thinking of getting more heavily involved in the genre. If anything, the latest from teedoubleuGAMES proves that the Souls spirit will continue to live on even without the guiding hands of From Software.

  • Games Master UK

It's a Soulslike, sure, but likely due to the isometric angle and the simple controls it requires, a repetitive one that offers little beyond a surface-level challenge. [Oct 2017, p.80]

  • Unforgiving and tense, Immortal Planet is the essential 2D Souls-like game.

  • An atypical souls-like action RPG far from being flawless but still entertaining and challenging.

  • The second opera of teedoubleuGAMES, Immortal Planet wants to be a tribute to the kind of souls-like, a title that makes the core of the combat system, but leaves many cracks.

  • LEVEL (Czech Republic)

Give this game a chance if you do not expect much. Especially if you have played Dark Souls trilogy, Salt & Sanctuary, Nioh and Bloodborne. Then it makes sense to check Immortal Planet too. [Issue#278]

  • Immortal Planet is mostly a game for Souls fans that just cannot get enough of FromSoftware’s particular brand of action. While it could also work as an introduction to the series proper, what with its short length, Immortal Planet doesn’t bring enough new to the table to really justify a purchase for anyone not already familiar with the Souls series. That it starts to recycle content in such a short time frame is also a crime, even if the combat can be engaging.

  • An interesting attempt at an isometric Dark Souls, but it lacks the depth and attention to detail of the real thing.

  • Immortal Planet is fine in just about every sense of the word. It does most things decently well, but never does anything exceptionally. It has a few interesting ideas, but it’s got enough drawbacks to even them out. I respect the ideas and what I’m sure were the goals of the project by a small development team, but it’s only been a few hours since I stopped playing and I’m already over it. I don’t regret my time with the game, but I don’t feel the need to hop back in and don’t really have any stand-out moments to look back on. The game may be called immortal, but the experience proves to be anything but.

  • Immortal Planet is by no means a bad game but it’s certainly not for me. It just seemed to get in the way of itself a lot – holding itself back via some particularly odd design decisions, possibly made in an attempt to emulate that ‘Soulsian’ gameplay but without enough of a core to back it up.

  • While I admire any indie developer with the ambition to take the Souls formula on, Immortal Planet is a surface-level imitation of an iconic series lacking the polish, variety and painstaking detail of its inspiration. This game takes a lot more than it gives.

  • A game adapts the basic mechanics from the Souls series successfully, and offers working fighting system, but fails to bring the catchy charm that glorified original have. Unnecessarily high difficulty, inconsistent design decisions, stereotype and boring environment make the game only a dull average piece.
