Killsquad

Welcome to Killsquad: a co-op action game that blends twin-stick shooter, hack and slash and drops in a dash of character customization & progression. Join us on a journey to five planets full to the brim with enemies for you to annihilate. Choose your hero, select your skills, weapons, gears and talismans, and unleash hell through waves of relentless enemies and fearsome bosses.

Killsquad deliveres frantic, direct, skill-oriented control on keyboard or gamepad. Shoot fast, dodge fast, or die even faster. Our core are short, 10-20 minute adrenaline pumping contracts you can enjoy solo or with up to 4 friends in co-op. So it feels a bit like a twin stick shooter. Or a hack and slash. Or a top-down dungeon crawler. Or a sci-fi bullet hell. Well, it feels like Killsquad. And it's a lot of fun to play, solo or with others.

Killsquad features five hero classes for you to choose from, each with their own weapons and skills. These combine melee and ranged characters to fit different playstyles. Along your adventures, you'll be able to acquire and equip powerful upgrades for each of your skills, which activate during your contracts. And, if you survive, claim your bounty to spend it on tons of new equipment, such as weapons, power-ups and gear, or cosmetics to show off.

Fight your way through +30 contracts in the Campaign Map, visiting five planets along the way. Jump in with your friends or with any other bounty hunter. You can come to the aid of another squad by joining them mid-mission in real time. Cooperate to complete each contract or compete between each other to earn the highest scores.

Obtain weapons and gears with unique characteristics that affect the skills of your hero. Earn the trust of the Unseen by finding their Talismans: strong and complex artifacts with exciting passive effects. But be wary, these abilities at first will be detrimental, but through effort and killing lots of monsters can level up to turn into powerful items. Use everything in combination with your skills and upgrades to create game-breaking builds, and make the heroes your own.

But this party would not be complete without the main course: the enemies. Hordes and waves of disturbing enemies will make their way to you, clawing and bitting till there's nothing left. But do not worry, you will be fine. It is the bosses which will make you tremble. More than 15 bosses will put you to the test, each with different sets of mechanics and unique ways to be beaten.

  • Killsquad is an enjoyable run, specially when played with friends, but it’s facing stiff competition against big-budget triple-A multiplayer experiences like Warframe or Destiny 2. The in-depth ability loops and RPG elements in Killsquad are done well, but the greatest enemy this title faces is… a lack of players.

  • Killsquad is a game that evolved significantly since it first arrived onto Early Access two years ago, and the result is a solid twin-stick shooter with looter elements. When it comes to loot drops, the balance is unfortunately a bit off, but overall the game is a fun mix of genres.

  • After two years of early access, Killsquad is launching in a strong position to build on a solid, playable, and enjoyable foundation.

  • Whether you’re playing solo or co-op, Killsquad’s skill-based, challenging, and fast paced combat is a triumph. While the lacklustre mission design and unexciting loot end up letting it down a little, this one can still be a blast to jump into if you and your friends are up for a grind.

  • Killsquad is a good attempt at merging a few ideas from other genres and coming up with an arcade-style isometric shooter with a loot grind. The action loop is solid, and the high enemy count makes for some frantic action that merges quick ability activation with the player’s own skill. It falls short in some elements, such as no end game content and a loot grind that is too focused on the shop rather than rewards through contracts, and could do with a better diverse set of abilities and weapons for each character. Still, this is a game that is easy to jump into, and even if the end game does not exist, taking the game as an experience from the first to the last contract is good enough to recommend, think of it as an isometric shooter rather than an action RPG. One thing though is that make sure you have yourself a friendly bounty hunter or three to come along with you to get the best experience from this entertaining, blaster action game.

  • Procedurally generated and varied maps do wonders in keeping what is, at its core, a simple and unchanging gameplay loop feeling fresh, albeit samey. Taking down bosses feels like an achievement, and the difficulty is well balanced. The few online contracts I took showed that the classes complement each other well.

  • Killsquad is a game that mixes a lot of genres and tries to be a lot of things together. It succeeds only partially due to a limited depth and an uninspired art direction.

  • Killsquad feels like a game that’s taking a long time to cook. As much as I enjoyed my time playing it, it didn't always hold my attention, lacking a certain special quality. While it's already come on leaps and bounds, I hope Killsquad continues to improve with time.
