Monster Prom

Content Caution

Although it hasn’t been rated yet, Monster Prom features mature themes, naughty words and some objectively bawdy scenarios, not suited for the sheepish or the faint of heart. Please bear this in mind before playing.

There’s only 3 weeks left before prom and you haven’t got a date yet..and you’re a monster. But that’s okay ‘cause at your high-school everyone else is too! These are the stepping stones into the world of Monster Prom, a one-to-four player competitive dating sim that has you thinking: I never knew I was into that!
Choose your own adventure and get all the way to your special monster’s heart before anyone else does, take personality quizzes to determine your stats, get into all kinds of funny and absurd situations to seduce your sweetheart and find out more about yourself than you or your friends ever knew.
Play to your strengths to earn better rewards, discover and unlock items that boost your chances at your favourite fiend’s fondness and fight the good fight all in the name of the thing high-schoolers dream of: not going to the prom alone.
Grab up to three friends or play by yourself, enjoy the beautiful art, the witty dialogue and be prepared to make hard choices because at the end of the cruel, cut-throat world of Monster Prom there are only two types of people: lovers and losers. Being a monster is hard, but getting a date for prom is even harder!

Competitive dating sim

Nothing makes the heart grow fonder than a little competition. Set your gaze on one of the sweethearts, but if you share your romantic tastes with your friends, be ready for some stiff competition.

Fantastically funny writing

All's fair in love and war, except maybe taking yourself too seriously. Through whimsical, postmodern humor, written by Cory O’Brien, Maggie Herskowitz and Julián Quijano, there is no topic Monster Prom won’t make fun of, including itself.

Gorgeous art

There’s never a dull moment while exploring the beautifully crafted world and characters drawn by Arthur Tien.

1000+ funny and absurd situations and hundreds of events

Get into the groove of the local monster high-school through hundreds of events that will branch into 1000+ possible situations, all with multiple outcomes.

Couch Multiplayer for one-to-four people

Play by yourself, with a significant other or with your favourite group of friends.

Easy to pick up and play

No learning required, just have your heart strings ready for tugging.

Characters easy to fall in love with

With 6 fully fledged lovable classmates at your fingertips, go ahead and meet, pick and find out just what makes them tick.

Monstrously post-modern slice of life

A beautifully developed universe with a diverse cast of characters, all with their own personal fashion, outfits, style and quirks, set in the modern world of love with all the trimmings: selfies, dating apps, d**kpics, raves, emojis and more.

Freedom of choice

Monsters don’t like boys or girls, they like monsters. In Monster Prom the game experience is unaffected by gender or sexual orientation, since finding love is already hard enough.

  • As someone who did not attend his own prom, something about Monster Prom just clicked and made me really invested into learning more about these monster young adults and their fates before the big dance. I found myself immediately starting a new session after a rejection in hopes of finally getting the monster of my dreams to finally say yes. The sheer amount of events and possible outcomes meant it would be hard for me to get bored.

  • I never would have imagined a multiplayer dating sim working, but boy, does Monster Prom work. It rests on a framework of superb character art and hilarious scenario writing, then goes several steps further to offer a challenging competitive experience and an addictive solo one.

  • It fares a bit better as a multiplayer game than a single-player one, a standalone entry in a genre that is not known for catering to that demographic. For the lone Casanova, it is still most certainly worth giving a go, so long as you’re aware of its limitations going in.

  • I loved these high schoolers so much, I want more flesh on their emaciated bones.

  • Monster Prom is a dating sim that’s ready to scare away the competition with drop-dead gorgeous art, killer writing, and music that’s to die for.

  • Games Master UK

It's fun, with great art and enjoyable characters, but lacks narrative depth and gets repetitive. [June 2018, p.77]

  • Monster Prom’s charm stems from its thematic elements. Fantastic interactions, its satirical narrative, and the monster theme offer a unique spin, even if it doesn’t deviate all that much from known formulas. But, it does bring a little more to the table, a party for daters who are in it more for the ride than the destination.

  • CD-Action

Truly hilarious, brilliant dialogues are not enough to compensate for random, grind-oriented gameplay. [07/2018, p.74]

  • It could be far more engaging with these premises, and the good cards that the game has could have been played in a better way.

  • As a singleplayer title, it seems to offer a wealth of content — the stories have a quirky kind of charm and each scenario has four possible outcomes, with a total of over twenty endings possible. Of course, playing with rivals adds a replay value of its own, but after a little time spent with it, I came away feeling that Monster Prom is only functional at best — despite the wealth of options, the scenarios become predictable and tired quickly. Even so, a group of friends turns it into a delightfully messy romp of the kind that my younger self would have loved, minus the cocaine.

  • Monster Prom had so much potential and so much to offer that I couldn't wait to tear into it. And on a superficial level, it's an interesting experiment that I thought I would love. Unfortunately, just like the monsters you're courting, once you get to know it it's only a great-looking shell with some fairly rotten insides.
