While not being an indie games enthusiast myself, I do wholeheartedly recommend this game – both to fans of pixel art aesthetics, and to those who just want to shoot a lot of stuff in an old school FPS. [13/2018, p.68]

  • In the end though, perhaps what sets apart Project Warlock from the very recent old-school shooter renaissance we’ve been seeing is that outside of inspiration and certain elements it doesn’t look any one thing from the ‘90s. Which in the end makes it special, and something well worth checking out.

  • Project Warlock is a fast-paced, fun and challenging old-school FPS, with a hint of RPG mechanics.

  • Project Warlock is just a damned blast. You could say this is the best version of Wolfenstein 3D ever made. Hell, it even tops the original Doom in some categories. It certainly won’t win awards for originality, but this is a true work of passion that pays off in the end.

  • Project Warlock‘s speedy gunplay, rockin’ soundtrack, and armory of slick weapons combine in a way that make it a bit more than a repeat of past Dooms and results in a game that’s bigger than the sum of its many recognizable parts.

  • Project Warlock is a Doom-like that packs a punch. The levels are full of secrets, the enemies have a great range of behaviours, and the weapons – boy, the weapons – are a joy to use. Add all of that to the 60 levels to learn and explore and the challenges provided by the higher difficulty levels and you have a winning formula. Even if the pixel graphics aren’t your usual cup of tea, Project Warlock is more than worth your time.

  • Project Warlock is a tastefully designed throwback to an era of classic shooters and teenage escapism, and as one would expect, shooting things in this game is so damn gratifying.

  • A brilliant old-school shooter which isn’t afraid of modern features. It’s hectic, lightning fast, destructive, explosive and bloody. There are weaknesses, sure - but if you take it in small doses, this game will reward you with a very pleasant time indeed.

  • There really isn’t too much to say about Project Warlock because it’s really quite a simple game. There aren’t a ton of bells or whistles, but runnin’ and gunnin’ both feel solid.

  • Project Warlock is an instant old school fps, frenetic and fun, which pays homage to the origins of the genre, rooted in the 90s. It is, however, a playful experience that due to its repetitive and little varied nature may not find the right response in a more general, young and modern public.

  • LEVEL (Czech Republic)

Project Warlock proudly points to the forefront of the genre and provides players with a nostalgic ride full of weapons of mass destruction and crowds of various hell creatures and other monsters. [Issue#291]

  • Project Warlock is an excellent old school fps that brings back the genre to its roots of the 90s. Search colored keys and kill hordes of ruthless demons in a frenetic and fast paced shooter that is really fun to play.

  • A charming, but monotonous shooter bar any noteworthy elements.
