RACE: The WTCC Game + Caterham Expansion

The Official WTCC Game | RACE is the first ever game to be focused on the hard hitting, intense action of the exciting WTCC championship which is exploding in popularity all over the world. Based on WTCC, one of only three official FIA world championships next to Formula 1 and WRC, RACE features the complete WTCC championship season of 2006, all the cars, drivers and locations, including several official tracks and cars brand new to the racing game genre.
The game recreates the championship as close to real life as possible and simulates the cars and the driving style in a ultra realistic fashion.
RACE features various difficulty levels to attract everyone, from hardcore simulation gamers to beginners level still featuring the same elements and a highly realistic driving experience.

    Graphic Cards not supported:
    • NVIDIA GeForce 3/4 cards
    • ATI Radeon 8500/9000/9200
    • Intel Motherboard mounted chipsets
  • Race 07 is an amazing simulation that pushes the PC to the limits.

  • Games that are this good out of the box are relatively rare. Add in the fact that the game can be found for $20 and it's a absolute steal. Race '07 is a exemplary game that will provide many hours of racing bliss at a superb price.

  • With no fuss and no nonsense, this is a title pulling off into the distance, watching its rivals fluff and flounder in its mirrors.

  • Pelit (Finland)

Great immersion, good graphics and awesome sounds... and absolutely fun to play! In the other hand, not much evolution compared to earlier Simbin games. Still no real-like rain (like in GP4) and still too low damage sensitivity and too simple damage model. Two formula cars are welcomed add-on, however their drivability and grip feel should be better. I hope these formula cars are profecy of F1 racing game from Simbin in future. Again great game for sim veterans and normal players. [Nov 2007]

  • AceGamez

I really do like Race 07: Official WTCC Game. In the modern group of racers, it's a breath of fresh air to find a game that does exactly what it says it will on the box. A wealth of options, tonnes of cars and enough tracks to keep even hardcore racers busy for months, coupled with a true feeling of real driving gives Race 07 something that no other racer has.

  • The most enjoyable PC racing simulation to date.

  • Visuals aren’t the main attraction of the game, but the sound effects are great and the assortment of tracks and vehicle classes, as well as almost flawless playability, will keep the player engrossed for many hours.

  • PC Format

Functional graphics belie an exciting and sophisticated racing title with plenty of under-the-bonnet tweaks, since last year's effort. [Dec 2007, p.60]

  • The game will pay for itself many times over for the hardcore sim fan who treats these games as an investment in a sim racing career. But a title like this is not as likely to win over a casual racer, because little was done to cultivate new hardcore sim racing fans here.

  • Race 07, while not breaking a whole lot of new ground technologically, is a solid performer in an interesting racing domain.

  • PC Gamer

Race 07 may not reinvent the genre, but for $29.99, you won't find a better new PC racing option this year. [Holiday 2007, p.74]

  • PC Gamer UK

Much better than last year's effort. The improvements come through broadening the experience rather than heightening the quality. [Dec 2007, p.62]

  • Well beyond just another competent racing game. It’s absolutely one of the pinnacle examples of simulation racing.

  • RACE 07 is a charming racing game that won't fail to appeal to enthusiasts. You have to applaud the effort that's gone into making the game authentic but also accessible, and at any level, it is always a joy to play.

  • Despite improvements in areas like rain effects and bystander depiction, the Gmotor engine is beginning to look rather tired. Crude shadowing and reflections, primitive vegetation modelling, deserted pit lanes... none of this stuff matters that much when weighed against the superlative handling models, strong audio, decent AI, and robust MP, but it does mean I can't bring myself to award this very fine racing game more than a Nascar-mocking 8.

  • It's lacking graphical glamour, but it more than makes up for it with superb sound effects and music – not to mention deep customization and solid multiplayer. It may be running on an old engine, but it's got life in it yet.

  • Race 07 certainly does appeal to the enthusiasts of the serious racing genre, but does a lot to make the game playable by those who aren’t quite familiar with the proper procedure to take a turn without spinning wildly out of control.

  • This is likely where Papyrus would be, had the company survived -- and that says a ton.

  • Unfortunately, things like the AI, graphics and crash damage, as well as the Porto track, still could do with some more tweaking. And in comparison to its big brother GTR 2, it's still most definitely a lap or two behind.

  • Hardcore racing-sim fans will get the most out of this game. For the arcade-racing crowd or casual gamer, the tedious logistics of practice sessions and qualifying rounds may be too much to handle.

  • Edge Magazine

Its fortunes rely on satisfying a burgeoning community of simulation racers, for whom authenticity is the top priority, and in that respect it’s a success. [Dec 2007, p.94]

  • For hardcore racing nuts, Race 07 is probably equal to a second coming. It's detailed, intense, has multiple racing league licenses, and features racing both online and off. However, gamers who are used to having their disbelief suspended for a bit while their Ferrari does 250MPH down a city street and drifts perfectly around the block are in for a bit of an ass-kicking. The difficulty level in 07 is brutal.
