Sakura Spirit

??????????????????????? ???????????
Rising Judo Star Gushiken Takahiro was two weeks away from the match that would make or break his career -- a championship match where the winner is then signed up to be a young national athlete for Japan. He was very determined to win, in order to fulfill his dreams of finally representing his country for a sport he loves so much.
He's prepared and ready, but that doesn’t stop him from being nervous about his upcoming battle. At the suggestion of his friends and classmates, he goes to a shrine that is rumoured to grant any wish or prayer. He pours all the coins from his already full coin bank into the offering box and says his prayer. After praying, he becomes dizzy and nauseous and eventually faints. When he wakes up, he finds himself in an ancient, unfamiliar place.
While searching for a way back to his village, he stumbles upon two girl wielding swords chasing after two… foxgirls? He questions his brain at first, but then follows them, only to be caught up in their shenanigans as well.
Who are these girls, and are they involved in Takahiro’s arrival to this new world? Will he get back to his own world and timeline in time for his match? Or will he be stuck there forever?

The story wasn't great, the mechanics are simply clicking to continue and you make one almost meaningless choice. The game only lasts 2-3 hours and its main selling point is its soft-core artwork.
But despite this, Sakura Spirit wasn't a chore but rather a memorable experience. Yes its flawed, and very heavily at that but the witty side comments by the protagonist and the humorous situations he inevitably finds for himself make this one of the more enjoyable anime games on steam.

Overall, it was a decent visual novel. It wasn't that long (about 3.5 hours), but it had cute characters and... Well, that's pretty much it. People will tell you: 'I bought cuz boobs.' But if that's the only reason, you might as well just watch hentai because there is no 'nudity.' This game is for the story, which was solid. 7/10

Its.....alright? I guess?I mean, comparing it to other Visual Novels, SS is kinda lacking...a lot. Which is really disappointing because it had a lot of potential for a longer, more gripping storyline and romance/story arcs but fails to capitalize on any of them.

The story is pitifully short; it's entertaining, but too short to be satisfying. Not really a good sign for a Visual Novel, a game genre where it relies heavily on the story. It starts out well and you start to think its going to lead you somewhere great but kinda burns out by the last hour of the game and completely obliterates into oblivion by the ending. Its like the storyboard directors just said **** it, thinking's hard, publish it anyway. I'm sure the boobs and foxgirls will compensate for the lack of a complete story". The ending also has sequel-bait tone. I'm not sure if Sekai Project's going to make another sequel for it (although with how bad this thing is currently holding in terms of reviews, not sure they're going to make one.). Ohh, and the lack of a romance option pisses me off to no end, I want to beat the cellulite out of the person who decided that feature wasn't worth implementing at least.

The main characters have a fair amount of development, but only far enough not to be considered utter cardboard cutouts. Which is again, a shame, because they had a potential for something better, which wasn't capitalized upon.

As for hentai parts? No Adult-tier nudes, really. You get nudity, but no nips or genitalia. Again, a shame.

All in all, not really worth the full price of $9.99. I can name a few more eroge VNs that are better both in the story department and hentai department. Slashed down to 25% and lower? It kinda starts to be a bit more attractive if you got nothing else to spend on and want a few hours of laughter. It'll give you a hour of a laugh....although it kinda leaves you wanting for more, a lot more.

    Pros
    +Colorful cast of characters
    +Great background designs
    +OST was decent
+Gallery mode which allows you to see CG scenes
+Uncensored (though it showed nudity, some parts were cleverly hidden purposely)

    Cons
-Kinectic visual novel but has one branching off choice
-One ending despite what choice you make
-FPS stutters constantly between 20 FPS to 60 FPS though its barely noticeable through text loading (tested on both laptop and desktop)
-Fullscreen kind of broken on laptop (desktop does not have this issue), easily fixable by changing compatibility setting checking "Disable display scaling on high DPI Settings".

The first game in the same genre and style for me. Actually I'm not a fan of this, but the rest, smaka the space bar while reading the text with a clear bias and stare at the floor Frank drawn art, why not. For a first attempt it is not bad.

A very beautiful art, decent music, but the story is not that great, it tries to be serious, but all that panty and boobs stuff breaks the seriousness. Not sure what the devs wanted to deliver: a good story or lots of ecchi, but the ending says it's just the beginning.

This game is a bit mislabeled on Steam: there is actually no nudity or explicit sexual dialog, I would say it's partial nudity and suggestive language, so it's not really a mature title - it's still NSFW I'd say. This actually should not matter since this is a visual novel. Visual novels are simple in structure and are story-heavy, they can in many cases be done with a tool like Ren'Py, so all the game designer has to do is to add story, graphics, sound and decisions. Unfortunately, the story is quite boring, so the 3-4 hours play time is a plus. While funny and very well drawn, the characters are very stereotypical and flat. The story often references popular video games, but it actually doesn't matter. The player literally has only one decision to make in the game that does not have any consequence other than displaying different graphics for the main characters. At the end the games says it's to be continued, but honestly, I don't think it matters.

I thought it was a game, but it wasn't. All you can do is to keep clicking for reading. Your finger gets sore. Near the end, it finally gives you two choices. It took only 1.1 hours if you are really into reading. It says it has nudity, but it's dishonesty to rob your money. It drops trading cards very, very slow, so I had to repeat it thrice to collect all the cards. It's one of the worst games I ever played since I first played PC game back in '98.
