The graphics and sound track work because it’s simple, the gameplay and mechanics are what really make this game.
The Masterplan is simple, but detailed enough to offer an authentic atmosphere to its various heists.
The Masterplan is an open-ended heist game that is genuinely fun to play. It has some teething issues, but with continued support from its developers it can only go from strength to strength.
If you are a fan of squad based strategy games or old heist movies, then you should definitely check out The Masterplan.
Despite shortcomings in controls and level design, the core gameplay and the smooth presentation are strong enough to make The Masterplan an entertaining, if flawed heist simulator. [Aug 2015]
One nice little surprise that draws on many sources of inspiration, but still manages to stand out for its own virtues.
Even though it's far from perfect, we've enjoyed this title, and we really hope it's successful enough to see a more polished sequel.
The Masterplan presents a very unique and welcoming vibe for all who have dreamed of robbing a building establishment.
The Masterplan succeeds in making everything from the triumphant heists, close scrapes and complete wash-outs, interesting – you’ll just have to work for them.
In the end, while the gameplay and repetition required can be frustrating, The Masterplan is very well put together from an aesthetic standpoint.
The Masterplan is based on an interesting concept and is only held back by no particular effort put into creating interesting or diverse gameplay mechanics. Nevertheless, it remains quite an enjoyable game, as long as you are not expecting more than it can deliver.
Shark Punch makes its debut in the real-time tactics genre with some charming ideas, starting with an original setting and some well-crafted levels. Unfortunately, some questionable design choices, a less than average AI and a poor technical production clip the wings of a potentially nice title.
The Masterplan cries the tears of its wasted potential. When it is working as supposed, it is a pleasure to play. But unfortunately it does not happen often enough.
Though not exactly fast-paced, it works best when decisions are made on-the-fly and risks are taken for monetary distractions. Overall, The Masterplan is not a bad game, just one that misses some tricks because of scaled back designs.
A stronger emphasis on an overarching narrative, more flexible range of actions on the field and a proper save system could have made “The Masterplan” into an excellent game. Without all that, it’s merely serviceable.
Decent fun spoiled by poorly designed, frustrating controls and lack of depth. [09/2015, p.47]
The Masterplan feels like the most tragic kind of missed opportunity: a set of viable ideas rendered inert in practice.
Announce as many cool things as possible, then, while everyone is distracted by flashy trailers, swap the actual game with a hardly playable dummy. Looks like The Masterplan itself is a con.
