Although Worms Reloaded has its share of rare but notable problems, it is without a doubt the pinnacle of the franchise, the single best and most complete version of Worms to date.
Worms: Reloaded is a very welcome return to form for Team 17. Reprising the game's classic 2D battlefields, Reloaded pits two customisable platoons of comic worms against one another in hilarious trajectory-based warfare.
It's rare that a videogame can remain just as relevant today as it did at the turn of the decade, but precisely because of the stylised graphics, simplistic physics and endless customisation options, Worms remains evergreen to this day.
Worms is back, and it's bringing hilarious, strategic, turn-based strategy mayhem with it. For only $20, it's strongly recommended for most strategy gamers or people who are looking for something different.
This is the biggest, prettiest Worms, yet. Strategy fans will find one of the most fun multiplayer games around, and there is plenty to do on your own, as well.
The good old Worms is back on pc and it's looking better than ever. A lot of missions and game modes will take a lot of time to complete, and the multiplayer it's more than enough of a reason to justify the purchase for old-time fans of the series and newcomers alike. The only criticism we have is that in 15 years the gameplay remained basically unchanged from that of the original title. It's still great fun, but maybe it's time for something new.
We celebrate Worms return to the PC and hope them to maintain the same health in their next iterations; although Team 17 should be careful and avoid stagnate the formula, adding more new gameplay features to foster players.
They've put in more weapons, game modes, and customization while keeping the basic game underneath unchanged. If you enjoy turn-based strategy or simply exploding barrels of oil on top of your friends, you'll enjoy Worms: Reloaded.
Worms Reloaded is a love letter to the fans of the series from Team 17. The title is basically everything that is good from each of the previous iterations of the title with a fresh coat of paint and a few new features.
However, considering how slow, confusing and unappreciated the 3D versions seemed, a lightweight remake for today's networking capabilities is more than welcome if you're longing for this stuff.
Again, for all but the most obsessed longtime fans, there isn't enough new here to warrant a fresh purchase. However, anyone looking for the best possible Worms experience will find it here, and lapsed fans who haven't played since the late '90s just might rekindle their interest in the franchise.
Worms is still a great game for a quick multiplayer session, despite a lot of modes the single player however lacks motivation.
Reloaded features plenty of single player content to hone your skills but the game like its predecessors is at its best in its multiplayer modes and for any fan of the original Reloaded is a must have.
These hiccups aside, Worms Reloaded is a welcome, engaging and worthwhile title, and a measured balance of old and new.
The latest entry in the long-running Worms series further refines the 15-year-old formula and is one of the best yet.
At $19.99, Worms Reloaded is a solid entertainment value-especially for those of us who love the smell of banana bomb in the morning.
Playing Worms Reloaded made me feel like I just opened a time capsule from 10 years ago. It shows that even such a simple game of worm warfare, can stand the test of time, and still be as entertaining as it once was.
It's Worms like you know and love it, but now with an up-to-date graphics style. The comeback is great!
The latter episode of such a lucky brand is the best one for PC too: the "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" philosophy here is at its best, but Worms Reloaded is damn funny anyway.
Worms Reloaded is a pretty and engaging game that, while light on the single player replayability will charm and endear with its quirky weaponry and unique brand of multiplayer carnage. There is no other game series like it and the gaming world would be diminished without the presence of the endless warfare of Worms.
People who have been playing the series since the early versions may want to skip this skip this edition for a less expensive one later on as well, or just wait for the game to be discounted somewhere.
But if you've never played Worms before, or absolutely need a PC version, now's as good a time as any to jump into the slimy, slithery, British-y chaos. 15 years in, and this war's just getting started.
In conclusion, Worms Reloaded is simply the tried-and-tested Worms formula jazzed up a bit with nicer graphics and a few additions.
Worms are back in a new adventure, since the XBLA exclusive Worms 2: Armageddon. One of the most addicting strategy game strikes again, available only via direct download on Steam.
The Worms formula works again with Reloaded. May be its not a breath of fresh air, but its gameplay values remains unbroken.
Wormed its way back into our hearts, but don't expect the relationship to be any different.
Worms Reloaded may not offer enough in the form of new content for those who have played past games in the series, but taken on its own the game is enjoyable and newcomers should definitely consider giving it a try.
Worm mayhem is the best tradition of the series fortunately returns to classic 2D visuals. It has every ingredient you remember from previous installments... but nothing more. [Issue#196]
