Take one part Lemmings, combine with liberal but equal amounts of undead flesh and 8-bit pixel art. Heat vigorously. The resulting decoction is something more potent than its constituent parts that delivers a wholly unique and heady rush. This action puzzler will have you quickly hooked. Side effects may include compulsive level replaying, RSI of your click finger, and loss of sleep.
It was a pleasant surprise to find out just how much fun this game really is, it’s a fantastically refreshing take of the classics Lemmings formula and for its current price of £9.99 it is definitely worth every penny.
While well-placed mutations convert the humans to undead minions in Zombie Night Terror, the game itself could be just the infection needed to help more zombie-centric titles into the market. Controlling the groaning hordes is frighteningly fun and this is a 'must-play' for any apocalypse aficionados.
A wonderfully designed zombie romp, providing a tough challenge with some fantastic humour and music along the way.
It is one of those indie games that's rather unique and makes for an interesting change of pace from other games.
A fantastic experience, and rarely do developers manage to make such perfect use of a setting when building a game. This isn’t just a puzzle game that happens to be zombie-themed, it’s literally a zombie puzzle game, where all of the challenges and tasks flow naturally from the concept, constantly expanding and elaborating on the core idea. Yes, it’s fair to sum Zombie Night Terror up as Lemmings With Zombies, but from that jumping off point it accomplishes incredible things.
Accompanied by an 80s horror movie soundtrack, death screams and sounds of gunshots, a merciless zombie horde shambles through the darkened streets, ready to win over your hearts.
If you liked Lemmings but thought it could do with more brain munching, this is the game for you. [Issue#254, p.68]
All in all, Zombie Night Terror doesn’t bring a whole lot of full-scale innovation to the table, but it’s an interesting and fun spin on a classic.
Zombie Night Terror is a great little tactical game, with a distinct art style and direction that makes zombies interesting again. At a low price, offering a good length that offers replay value in side objectives, there's no doubt that this is a game that should be looked at and is worth your time.
The graphics, music and story of the game are part of what really makes Zombie Night Terror a puzzle game that sticks out to me.
Zombie Night Terror is a brilliant puzzle game, packed with care and attention to details.
The best Lemmings game since the Amiga days, except with flesh-eating zombies instead of mindless mammals.
Plotting the downfall of the human race is a rare treat in videogames, and there’s a lot of fun to be had in bringing this to pass in Zombie Night Terror.
'Zombie Night Terror' makes for a delightful challenge, one that is worth revisiting in the future even after conquering all of the levels. Many of the human characters in the game are in need of grisly end, and zombies are certainly primed for that. The game falls short of excellence, but it's still an easy recommendation for anyone who might enjoy an action-puzzler with zombie b-movie humor.
Though I really enjoyed the spooky, 80’s horror music, what I loved was that you can hear very ominous things happening in the background; echoed gunshots, whimpering, and the occasional zombie moan. The thunder and lightning, the pitter-patter of rain, and the screams of your enemies as you progress further through the level really struck that classic horror movie tone.
Zombie Night Terror is challenging, and most importantly, fun. There are some frustrations with selecting the right zombie, and it becomes annoying when you have nearly completed a level only to discover you don’t have the right resources to complete it.
For the price, Zombie Night Terror is a fine way to spend a weekend or more.
Zombie Night Terror is an incredible experience strongly influenced by the Romero's zombie genre. Strategy, humor and a very noticeable Lemmings influence team up in this black'n white proposal.
Zombie Night Terror mixes the tired undead genre with the puzzle gameplay of the Lemming series, oddly enough. It works for the most part but the game is too difficult and obtuse for its own good. There is an enjoyable puzzler here, just expect to deal with some trial and error frustration along the way.
The art direction astutely compliments the gameplay and the self-referential, retro-infused style of Zombie Night Terror. It is a title that feels a lot like a postmodern love letter to games of a bygone era.
